Default Thinking of making a mesmer...

Hey guys, I've been playing on my Elementalist and my WArrior for a while, and I want to try something new. I definetly want to try out the mesmer, and I have an open character slot. However, does it make more sense to make a new mesmer, or change my Elem secondary to mesmer? The reason I'm asking this is because Fast Casting doesn't seem so great, especially compared to Energy Storage. Help would be appreciated, thanks!

Fast Casting will make a difference, it means a lot for the mesmer to be able to anticipate and prepare for an opponent's moves. More importantly though, you don't want to miss out on Mesmer runes. I'd say, make a Mesmer. You won't have energy problems with all the energy management spells Mesmers have, so putting points in Energy Storage would be a waste.

Its not the fast casting but the primary that makes a mesmer. Fast casting however is not great: but you notice when it is not there. While you don't need it for the mesmer skills; you need it for the mesmer builds. While it will never be your highest attribute it will never fall below 9. I know this doesn't make alot of sense compared to someone used to ether prodigy; but I'm trying my best.

Hopefully one day MoR will cost 5 energy.

Who needs energy management when you have ether prodigy the best skill (only skill worth using *cough* j/k...but not really just kinda sorta) in the ele profession? Ether prodigy ftw~

I've had an elementalist for a year now, and I have had much more success with Elemental Attunement than Ether Prodigy.

Duel attunements are ele spells only.
Eprodigy works for all spells, (even all skills!) and is more reliable.

Also had an elementalist for over a year; he currently rots with 3.1 mil exp on him.

Why are two of the major posters in the Mesmer forums (Okay, fine, I've dropped out a bit nowadays...I used to be, though!) E/~s? Shows the lack of Mez PvEers...

The only justification of me playing Elementalist is my obsession with Ether Prodigy.

Hehe yea I made my ele as mezzys died in pve. However after aoe nerf I started up my mesmer again; got her fow, all elites, missions+bonuses and am 1.5% away from grandmaster cartographer =D. However...mesmers are cruddy runners (yea I ran droks...but then went back to cap+remap it; sad isnt it?) But yep; ele profession ftw ^^ (cause da prodigy is da shizzles) (to this day my ele is in droks armor and still proudly wears his major vigor rune...cause they were hella expensive when he got it)

Mesmers+eles are dead in pve as far as I can tell...eles need a divine boon for elemental damage and mesmers need a empathys to ss conversion imo

I constantly delete my Ellys and Mezzes and restart them. However, this is my record Elly...1.5 months!

PvE mesmer can be great fun to play, just be prepared for nobody wanting you in a group or appreciating your role.

Well, during my play in Faction last night, I got in 6 different groups (Missions) because they wanted a mesmer. I can't say Mes and Ele are dead in PvE (because of MM and SS) its because ppl think to go faster you only need, again, a "invincible trio" (Monk, Warrior and Necro now). and let the others away.... except for those who want other porfessions in the team thought.
